“The beauty of what flows through us all is the only thing we’ve got.” – Night Light by Mark Crissinger
THE CRISSINGER-BAND is a contemporary blues band featuring an all-star cast of musicians from Nanaimo, BC. Led by 2017 Maple Blues Award nominee Mark Crissinger he is joined by the JUNO nominated rhythm section of Bill Hicks on drums and Jay Stevens on bass. Rounding out the team is Marty Howe on harmonica and Dan Dube on keyboards. Their performances at three Nanaimo Blues Festivals, the Victoria Blues Bash, private parties, and clubs have gained them friends and fans across Vancouver Island, the lower mainland and beyond.
When touring in central/eastern Canada Mark employs A-list musicians he has worked with many times over the last twenty years. They are familiar with his repertoire and always have a blast playing together. You can tell by all the smiles on the stage!
THE CRISSINGER-BAND ignites audiences every time they play. When you combine fresh ideas, excellent musicianship, and audience participation the result is a good time for everyone.
The focus at these performances is Mark’s original music. Blending traditional themes with clever lyrics and modern arrangements, the band combines different styles to give their show plenty of variety. Boogie Woogie, Funk, Rock, Shuffle and Swing. The band has a lot of experience in this environment and knows the job is to get the crowd going. Dancing, singing, clapping, and laughing are all encouraged.
PUBS & PARTIES:
We’ve played hundreds of these! Mark will have a quick chat with the employer to ascertain what kind of show they’d like to have. The band has a great list of classic blues and rocknroll covers. What usually happens is a healthy mix of originals and cover songs. Staging, sound quality, and volume are details we pay lots of attention to. Keeping an eye on the audience and giving them what they want is a very important part of the performance.
Known for his strong promotional work ethic, Mark goes way beyond the usual efforts to promote any pub, club, or festival he works with. In this day of age, we all need to work together to maintain an interest in participating with live music events. Especially within the blues and roots community.
